A Michigan man is being held in the Wood County jail after troopers say he was found to be transporting prescription pills.
Charged with three counts of trafficking in drugs and three counts of possession of drugs is Leonard Denson, 22, of Detroit. His bond is set at $100,000, according to records from the Wood County jail.
Troopers reported that a vehicle was stopped on I-75 in Perrysburg Wednesday night for a speeding violation. Troopers said there were "criminal indicators" and a drug-sniffing dog was brought to the scene and a probable cause search was done.
Troopers found 248 Oxycodone pills, 92 Hydrocodone pills, and 279 Xanax pills in the trunk of the vehicle. The drugs are worth a reported $15,000.
If Mr. Denson is convicted, he could face up to 14 and a half years in prison and up to a $35,000 fine.
The Highway Patrol also reports that drug violations are up this year. Through Dec. 1, the patrol has made 1,381 more drug arrests than during the same period in 2010.
