Inmate dies in Toledo prison

An autopsy revealed no evidence of trauma to a Toledo Correctional Institution inmate who died in the facility Wednesday, said Dr. James Patrick, Lucas County coroner.

A ruling will be made after test results are known, but the death appears to be of natural causes, Dr. Patrick said Thursday.

Ruben Harrison, 26, began having seizure-like activity while in another inmate’s cell, the coroner said. Guards tried unsuccessfully to revive Harrison. His only known medical condition was a history of asthma, Dr. Patrick said.

Harrison was admitted to the prison system in November, 2011. He was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Hamilton County and received a nine-year sentence.
