Man taken to hospital after central Toledo shooting

One man was taken to a local hospital after being shot in a leg near a day care center in central Toledo.

Police described the injury as "minor" and said the bullet appeared to exit from the back of the victim's leg. The victim also cut his hand on a fence while fleeing from the shooter(s), police said.

He was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for treatment.

The victim was found behind the Old West End Day Care Center on Monroe Street near Bancroft Street.

The victim and a witness had conflicting stories as to what happened and where the shooting happened.

The shooting was reported at about 2:30 p.m.
