Driver killed in South Toledo crash

A 22-year-old Toledo driver was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on South Detroit Avenue on Sunday evening.

Trevon Gist of 910 S. 14th St. was driving a sport utility vehicle outbound on Detroit shortly before 8 p.m. when it went left of center just north of the Ohio Turnpike near Penrose Avenue, according to Toledo Police.

The vehicle went over the east curb and struck a utility pole before coming to rest in the inbound lanes of Detroit.
