Michigan pedestrian hit by car dies of injuries

A Milan, Mich., woman struck Saturday by a vehicle on South Dixie Highway near Dunbar Road died Sunday in a Toledo hospital, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

Kelly A. Mazzola, 37, died in the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital. Deputies said she was standing in one of South Dixie’s southbound lanes in Monroe Township when struck at 8:17 p.m. by the van driven by Laura Leege, 52, of Monroe. The accident is under investigation.
