DETROIT — Detroit’s fire commissioner plans to step down at the end of the year.

The office of Detroit’s state-appointed emergency manager Kevyn Orr says today that Don Austin submitted his resignation to Mayor Dave Bing’s office.

Bing spokesman Bob Warfield tells the Detroit Free Press that a replacement for Austin hasn’t yet been named. Austin took the post in 2011.
