Oregon resident killed in Fulton County hunting accident

LYONS, Ohio -- A 21-year-old Oregon man died of an apparent gunshot wound today in a hunting incident in Fulton County's Royalton Township, authorities said.

The man's name was not released.

Fulton County Sheriff Roy Miller in a statement said that a 911 call at 1:52 p.m. reported the incident near State Rt. 109 and County Road N. The hunter was pronounced dead at the scene.

State division of wildlife officers were at the scene, said Paul Kurfis, district law supervisor with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in Findlay. Officers will be investigating how the incident occurred, he said.

Firefighters and emergency medical responders from Lyons and a medical helicopter also were at the scene.
