Ohio Highway Patrol releases 911 calls about fatal Thanksgiving crash

    Ohio Highway Patrol officials today released eight phone calls made by travelers on the Ohio Turnpike shortly before a speeding driver killed a Toledo couple on Thanksgiving night.

    A total of eight calls were made, with nearly all of the callers reporting a speeding small, gray-looking vehicle traveling more than 100 mph, weaving in and out of traffic.

    The first caller reported seeing the speeding westbound vehicle near the Amherst exit on the turnpike -- Amherst is about 54 miles from where the vehicle collided with a minivan near Fremont.

    The second caller said to the Highway Patrol dispatcher, "He's gonna kill somebody."

    Another caller reported being "sideswiped" by the speeder.

    Andrew Gans, 24, of Kent, Ohio, is being held inthe Sandusky County jail in lieu of $1 million bond and is charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide.

    The car he was driving, a 2013 Infiniti M56, crashed into the minivan at 7:19 p.m., killing Toledoans Wilbur and Margaret McCoy, both 77.

    Officials said Mr. Gans was driving more than 125 mph.
