The Toledo Correctional Institution is on lockdown today for a routine, surprise annual contraband sweep.

Darlene Mitchell, spokesman for the North Toledo facility, said a special response team is conducting the “clear all,” looking for money, weapons, drugs, or anything else inmates are not supposed to have with them.

The sweep today was not prompted by any threats, Ms. Mitchell said.

She expected the lockdown and search to end sometime this afternoon.
