Autopsy pending on death of 84-year-old pedestrian in Northwood

An autopsy is pending in the death of an 84-year-old pedestrian in Northwood who was struck by a vehicle Monday morning, said Dr. James Patrick, Lucas County coroner.

Rosella J. Wells, a Northwood resident, was walking in the turn lane of Woodville Road about 8:30 a.m. when a vehicle struck her, Dr. Patrick said. She died at 12:44 p.m. today in Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

According to Northwood police, Nancy L. Lewis, 79, of Toledo's Keen Street, was driving east on Woodville Road.

When she attempted to move into the turn lane, in preparation for turning into Midas Muffler, her car struck the pedestrian, who was apparently walking west in the turn lane, police said.
