National Weather Service posts flash-flood warnings
ODOT reports that U.S. 224 in Seneca County is closed due to flooding
12/21/2013The National Weather Service has posted a flash-flood warning for all of Hancock, Seneca, Wyandot, and Crawford counties in northwest Ohio.
Heavy rain this evening on top of earlier rainfall is forcing many local rivers and streams rapidly out of their banks, the weather service said. Travelers especially were warned to be alert for changing conditions and flooded roads.
The Ohio Department of Transportation announced that U.S. 224 is closed on the south side of Tiffin because of flooding. The detour route uses State Rts. 100 and 67.
Other state and county highways are likely to close overnight because of the continuing heavy rain.
The flash flood warning remains in effect until 4 p.m., and involves other counties farther south. Severe thunderstorm warnings also are in effect in Hardin, Marion, and other central Ohio counties.
