Rossford police hunt for alleged liquor thief

1/7/2014

Rossford police are looking for a man who ran off with several bottles of liquor from a local Rite Aid store last week.

Detective Sgt. Todd Kitzler said the robbery at the Dixie Highway store occurred Dec. 29 about 8 a.m. The store does not sell alcoholic beverages on Sunday, so several shelves were roped off. The suspect went around the rope, grabbed some bottles, and tried to leave the store, he said.

A clerk who confronted him at the door was shoved to the floor before the suspect ran outside and sped off in a van registered to Theodore Smith of Toledo, said Detective Kitzler.

The robber is described as a short man about 45 to 55 years old who wore a dark coat, slacks, and hat.

Anyone with information that could help Rossford police solve the crime should contact Detective Kitzler by calling 419-666-5230.
