Police: Shooting in West Toledo was self inflicted

A shooting earlier today near Secor Road and Executive Parkway was self-inflicted, authorities said. The victim's gun was accidentally discharged in a room at the Red Roof Inn on Executive Parkway in West Toledo.

Police were summoned to the motel's lobby about 6:25 p.m., but the victim told officers the shooting had occurred in the parking lot at a nearby Sears store. The victim was taken to Toledo Hospital with a leg wound. Police subsequently determined the gun had fired accidentally while the victim and a friend were handling it in a motel room.
