Toledo police officer put on restricted duty after arrest for suspected drunken driving

A veteran Toledo police officer who was arrested for suspected drunken driving has been put on restricted duty, officials said today.

Officer Daniel Gardner, a 29-year veteran, was arrested at Dorr Street and North Crissey Road, in Sylvania Township, by Lucas County Sheriff's deputies on Thursday night, said police Sgt. Kevin Braun.

Officer Gardner will not work on the streets and the department has taken his firearm, Sergeant Braun said.

Sergeant Braun said Officer Gardner was arrested but not booked into the Lucas County jail.

Sylvania Municipal Court did not yet have any records loaded into their computer system for Officer Gardner.
