2 Defiance residents killed in 2-vehicle crash

DEFIANCE — Two Defiance residents were killed in a two-vehicle crash about 11:30 a.m. Sunday on State Rt. 66 north of Banner School Road in Tiffin Township, said troopers with the Defiance post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

A 2002 Jeep Wrangler was southbound on State Rt. 66 when the driver lost control and went left of center.

The Jeep was then struck broadside by a northbound 2004 Chevy 2500 pickup truck.

Both vehicles came to rest off of the east side of the snow-covered roadway, about 4 miles north of the city of Defiance.

The driver of the Jeep, Lucas J. Carnahan, 25, and his passenger, Constance M. Gray, 23, were killed in the crash.

The driver of the Chevy pickup, Bradley E. Bodenbender, 20, of Bryan, Ohio, received minor injuries and was transported to Defiance Regional Hospital.

Mr. Carnahan was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.

Ms. Gray and Mr. Bodenbender were wearing safety belts.

The crash remains under investigation by the Defiance post.
