The police surveillance cameras with blue flashing lights were meant to deter crime, not attract it.

On Saturday, a Toledo man was arrested for allegedly shooting off two rounds from a handgun right in front of one of the real-time crime cameras at Marlow Road and Upton Avenue, in West Toledo, according to court documents.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

John Winfree, Jr., 22, of 3131 Parkwood Ave., is charged with carrying concealed weapons and firearms discharge restricted. He was arraigned Monday in Toledo Municipal Court and was ordered to remain in the Lucas County  jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.
