TONTOGANY, Ohio - Nineteen cars of a CSX train derailed Monday night on the village's Main Street, the Wood County Sheriff's Office said.

Carla Groleau, spokesman for CSX, said 19 of the 62 cars in the northbound train left the track shortly after 9:30 pm. She said 18 of the 19 were empty and one car was hauling a load of steel.

She said there were no injuries to the CSX crew on the train. She didn't know if the cars that jumped the track struck any structures in the village.

"We are still accessing the damage. We will be clearing the area as soon as we possibly can," she said.

The sheriff's department and Washington Township Fire Department were sent to the scene.

The railline runs from Deshler in Henry County to Haskins and Perrysburg in North Wood County.
