Blood drive set for 7th anniversary of Dressel's death

On the seventh anniversary of the line-of-duty death of Toledo Police Detective Keith Dressel, the American Red Cross will host a blood drive in his honor.

The blood drive will be hosted at the Toledo Police Patrolman's Association Hall, 1947 Franklin Ave., from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

Detective Dressel, 35, a 13-year department veteran working in the vice unit, was shot and killed Feb. 21, 2007, in the 1400 block of North Ontario Street.

He was shot by then 15-year-old Robert Jobe, who was found guilty in Lucas County Common Pleas Court of murder with a gun specification. He was sentenced to 15 years to life with an additional 3 years for the gun specification.

Jobe, who is serving time in the Mansfield Correctional Institution, is now 22.
