FINDLAY — Plans for an eventual engineering solution to Blanchard River flooding will continue, thanks to the federal government’s decision to spend an additional $1.5 million on an U.S. Army Corps of Engineers study to take the project to its next phase.

The allocation, announced Tuesday, made it into the Corps’ 2014 budget.

The Corps’ Buffalo District needs the money to complete its study, a framework for rechanneling the river in a way that reduces flooding and promotes more safety and economic security for the city of Findlay, the village of Ottawa, and other parts of Putnam and Hancock counties.
