  • A West Toledo carryout clerk turned her back to the man who asked for a pack of cigarettes and, when she turned around, found he was pointing a gun at her.

The man told the Stop & Go Clerk to give him the money in the register, according to a police report. The clerk pushed the gun away and told the suspect to "stop playing," the report states.

Another employee told the suspect there was no money and then yelled at him to get out of the store, 3645 Upton Ave. The suspect then fled, police said.

The man, who attempted to rob the store at 10:31 a.m. Thursday, is described by police as white, in his early 20s, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with blue eyes, reddish hair and a mustache with chin whiskers. He was last seen wearing a blue ski mask, a black coat with a hood, and gloves.

Police ask that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
