Citizen Police Academy to be held in Oregon

The Oregon Police Department is hosting a Citizen Police Academy starting April 7.

The class is limited to 20 people, who will learn about the department’s daily operations, crime prevention strategies, criminal investigation, road patrol tactics, and self-defense.

Participants will have the option to join the Lucas County Citizens Emergency Response Team and continue as a member of the Oregon Police Division’s Citizen Volunteer Group.

The academy is offered to anyone 18 and older with a valid driver’s license. Participants must pass a background check. Preference for admittance will be given to Oregon residents.

Classes are Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. at the city’s Community Room, 5330 Seaman Rd.
