Police probe pizza shop, convenience store robberies

A South Toledo pizza shop was robbed just after midnight today.

A man went into Vito's Pizza, 4317 Heatherdowns Blvd.,at 12:04 a.m. and motioned for an employee to approach the counter. As she did, he pointed a silver handgun at her; the woman handed the man an undisclosed amount of cash and he fled, according to a police report.

The suspect was described by police only as a white male who is about 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a black hat with red lettering.

On Tuesday morning a South Avenue convenience store was robbed, police report.

Two men — one armed with a gun — went into Stop & Go, 740 South, and demanded cash. The suspects went behind the counter and into the store office to take cash from an unlocked safe.

No suspect description was available.
