Monroe bicycle rider seriously injured in hit and run

A bicycle rider was seriously injured by a hit and run driver late Friday night in Monroe Township.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said that Johnathon Abercrombie, 39, of Monroe, was struck at 11:45 p.m. on Telegraph Road south of 7th Street in the township.

Investigators said Mr. Abercrombie was riding his bike on the southbound shoulder when he was hit by a dark-colored sedan also traveling south. Deputies said the vehicle did not stop.

Mr. Abercrombie was taken to Mercy Memorial Hospital by ambulance and then to the University of Michigan hospital with serious injuries.
