Men shot in central city, Old West End, South Toledo
Injured man taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital
3/23/2014Three men were wounded in separate weekend shootings in Toledo over a span of less than 22 hours, police report.
Sunday evening, a Toledo man walking in the central city near the intersection of Woodstock Avenue and Midway Plaisance was shot in the hip area and taken by ambulance to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, police said.
He was identified as Jarrell Sparks, 28.
He was walking with a second man about 6 p.m. when they heard gunfire and ran toward a carryout. The second man was not identified and not hit. A hospital spokesman said Toledo Hospital did not have a patient with that name.
At about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Corbin Gingrich was shot at 1931 Scottwood Ave., behind the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion in the Old West End, police said.
The victim was reportedly shot in the face and taken in a private vehicle to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. A hospital spokesman had no information.
About 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Marc Grant was shot in a shoulder at 3415 S. Detroit Ave. in South Toledo, police said.
According to initial reports, his wife called to say her husband was shot; it was not clear who shot him. He drove himself to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio, police said.
On Sunday, Mr. Grant was in fair condition, a hospital spokesman said.
Police on Sunday could not provide additional information about the shootings.
