Man arrested after vehicle chase in Findlay

FINDLAY — A Findlay man who was accused of fleeing from the scene of an attempted traffic stop was treated for what appeared to be an asthma attack Thursday after he was shot with a Taser gun by Findlay police following a vehicle chase and an ensuing foot pursuit, authorities said.

Robert Ferdinandsen, 54, was treated at the scene "for asthma related issues," police said. He was then charged with failure to comply with an order of a police officer and booked into the Hancock County jail pending arraignment.

About 4:30 a.m., police tried to stop a black 1996 Dodge Ram pickup for a traffic violation in the area of Frazer and Bolton streets. The pickup then took off and led police on a chase down several residential streets and through several residential yards, police said. The truck eventually drove through the yard at 712 College St., getting stuck between a telephone pole and a tree at the rear of the property. 

The driver then fled on foot, with an officer in pursuit. When the driver failed to stop, the officer deployed his Taser and arrested the driver, according to police.

Findlay, the seat of Hancock County, is about 45 miles south of Toledo.
