Aim to reduce emergency response times

Perrysburg Township Trustees on Wednesday authorized the township fire department to seek grant funds from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. Such a grant is expected to cover part of a global-positioning system that would coordinate emergency vehicles’ positions with traffic-signal controllers to give responders green lights.

Giving fire and rescue trucks the ability to pre-emept traffic signals will improve safety and the department’s response times, officials said.

“That's amazing,” trustee Gary Britten said about the technology.
