A Toledo man who was assaulted by two men on Saturday has died, police said.

Jeffrey Miller-Lee, 27, of Toledo, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

He succumbed to his injuries at 1:14 p.m. today, police said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

Jerome Devone Carter, 26, of 2520 Monroe St., is charged with murder.

He is being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $500,000 bond for a felonious assault charge related to the beating.

Mr. Carter is to be arraigned Wednesday in Toledo Municipal Court on the murder charge.

Police believe Mr. Carter and an accomplice, who has not been identified yet, assaulted Mr. Miller-Lee by punching and kicking him in the head and about his body at 417 Cumberland Place at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, according to court documents.

Investigators said Mr. Carter picked up the victim by his shirt and pants and "threw him" about 8 feet.

The victim landed on the sidewalk and suffered critical injuries, police said.
