FINDLAY — A Findlay woman has been referred to Hancock County Children Protective Services after her small child was found Thursday wandering a neighborhood alone.

Findlay police said the child was found about 4 p.m. in the 1300 block of Fox Street. A neighbor had noticed the child and took the child inside until police arrived. The child was unharmed.

Police searched the area, but no neighbors recognized the child. The department notified media about the found child; about two hours later, a woman called and said she was the mother, according to police.

The child was released to the mother after her identity was confirmed. The incident was referred to the Findlay Law Director's office and Children Protective Services.
