Bradner man injured in Sandusky County crash

BRADNER, Ohio — A Bradner man remained in critical condition in a Toledo hospital today after a tractor trailer struck his pickup truck from behind at an intersection on U.S. 23 near here Monday night, authorities said.

Jacob Hutson, 19, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center following the 11:40 p.m. collision on U.S. 23 at U.S. 6.

According to troopers at the Ohio Highway Patrol's Fremont post, Mr. Hutson was stopped at a red light in the northbound lane when the semi, driven by Byron Wheeler, 55, of Zanesville, Ohio, hit his pickup from behind. The pickup went off the left side of the road and hit a sign.

Both drivers wore seat belts, troopers said. The crash remained under investigation today.

The stretch of U.S. 23 where the crash occurred is on the Wood-Sandusky county line. The crash occurred in Sandusky County's Scott Township.
