Washington Local Schools officials have determined that a "suspicious package" found today in a parking lot outside McGregor Elementary School was a dog toy, officials said.

Toledo police and fire crews and the city's bomb squad responded to the scene at about 9:30 a.m. today, after finding the object — which appears to be homemade — outside the school.

Washington Local Schools Superintendent Patrick Hickey posted on Twitter just before 11:30 a.m. that the object was a toy, and tweeted "We will always err on the side of caution with kids/staff."

He also wrote that this is the second time this year that a suspicious package was located near McGregor, and that students were safe at all times.
