Police probe 2 South Toledo robberies overnight

Toledo police are investigating robberies of two South Toledo convenience stores, both reported within a 90-minute window.

The first was reported at 10:48 p.m. Monday at Stop n Go, 1806 Arlington Ave. A store employee told police she was in the back stock room when a front-door chime sounded.

When she walked into the main part of the store, a man grabbed her arm, pointed a gun at her, and walked her behind the counter and demanded she open the safe, according to a police incident report.

After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect demanded two packs of cigarettes and then fled with another man.

No injuries were reported and no suspect descriptions were available.

At 12:06 a.m. today, South Food Mart, 440 South Ave., was robbed, police said.

The store clerk told police a man approached the counter, pointed a gun at her, and threatened to shoot her. The suspect then demanded the clerk open the register and give him cash. The suspect fled with $400 and one pack of cigarettes.

The suspect was described by authorities as black, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a black T-shirt underneath and gray sweatpants.
