Suspect in third shooting, Derrion Boyd, 20, held on $500,000 bond

Two of three weekend shooting suspects are still at large.

One suspect, Derrion Boyd, 20, of 228 W. Delaware Ave., was arrested late Friday after he allegedly shot Koree Holmes, Sr., 45, of Toledo.

Mr. Boyd was arraigned Monday in Toledo Municipal Court and ordered to remain in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.

Holmes was shot in the 2200 block of Rosewood at 4:19 p.m. Friday. His injuries, which were described as life threatening, were reported as being in his upper chest and neck. He was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for treatment; a hospital spokesman today had no information about a patient with that name.

Holmes' wife, Marvita Mason-Holmes, told police that Mr. Boyd used to date her daughter and that the suspect has never gotten along with the victim.

Mrs. Mason-Holmes and her husband were featured in The Blade's gang series last year.

Demetric Williams, 20, of Toledo, was shot at 8:06 p.m. Friday inside a North Toledo apartment building.

The victim, who was shot three times in his right leg, told police he was at his friend's apartment, at 721 Lagrange St., when he was shot by a man wearing a Halloween mask.

Police recovered 12 shell casings from the second-floor hallway and found several rounds had struck a wall, according to a report.

No suspects have been named; police report that the incident was gang related. The victim was taken in a private vehicle to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center; a spokesman had no information about the patient's condition.

Phillip Copeland, Jr., 23, of Toledo, was shot Saturday at 10:55 p.m. at 503 Elmdale Ct. The victim, who was struck twice in his chest, told police he was shot while trying to intervene with a breaking and entering in the 400 block of Elmdale.

The victim was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio, for treatment. A spokesman had no information about the patient's condition.
