Commercial vehicle spills load of steel coils affecting Anthony Wayne Trail traffic

Toledo police block the intersection of the Anthony Wayne Trail and South Avenue today after a truck dropped a couple of steel coils on the roadway.

A commercial vehicle spilled a load of steel coils, affecting traffic on outbound Anthony Wayne Trail today, authorities said.

The incident occurred about 2:20 p.m. near South Avenue, a police dispatcher said. There was no report of injuries.

A Toledo police sergeant at the scene said the driver told him he had to stop suddenly when someone passed him illegally and the trailer collided with the cab of his vehicle. 

The semi driver will be cited because the coils were improperly loaded onto the trailer, the sergeant said.
