Inmate is attacked, injured by another at Toledo prison

A prisoner at the Toledo Correctional Institution was taken to a local hospital Wednesday after an inmate-on-inmate attack, a prison official said.

The assault occurred about 4:15 p.m., prison spokesman Kimberly Henderson said. She said the injuries to the inmate were not life-threatening.

Ms. Henderson called the attack an “isolated incident” and said the prison was not put on lockdown.

She declined to say where on the prison grounds the attack occurred. She also declined to say whether any weapons were used.

Prison and Ohio Highway Patrol personnel are investigating, she said.
