ADRIAN — An Adrian man accused of assault turned himself in to police Thursday.

Reginald Williams, 31, was wanted for a May 8 assault that occurred just before a shooting near Parish Park, police said. He is charged with assault with intent to cause great bodily harm.

Adrian police said last week officers responded about 6:35 p.m. May 8 to a report of shots fired in the 700 block of Erie Street near Parish Park and found two victims. One victim had a gunshot wound to his left arm; the other had a wound to the back of his head that did not appear to be caused by a gunshot, police said.

Mr. Williams is accused of assaulting the man with the head wound. He is not believed to have been involved in the shooting, or to have a gun on him at the time, police said.

It's unclear if the shooting and assault were related or coincidental, police said. The gunshot victim was taken to ProMedica Bixby Hospital and later to ProMedica Toledo Hospital. The victim with the head injury was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Arrest warrants were issued Friday for Jacob Christopher Edmond on three counts of felonious assault in the shooting.
