Toledo police unveil online crime map allowing public to search for crimes reported

Wonder no more about the crimes being reported in your neighborhood: Toledo police launched a new online crime map that allows users to search for crimes reported within a half-mile radius of an address.

The map, which went live on toledopolice.com on Thursday, collects crime report data and automatically loads it into the system, said police Sgt. Joe Heffernan. Users can look up crime data from the previous two months, sign up for email alerts, and submit anonymous tips.

“This is an example of our continuing commitment to keep the public informed about what's happening in their community,” Sergeant Heffernan said.
