2 men arraigned in shooting, police chase

Two 18-year-old men accused of various roles in a South Toledo shooting and high-speed police chase Wednesday were arraigned today in Toledo Municipal Court.

Chase Schumacher is charged with felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon.

Timothy Antoine, of 5032 Harvest Ln., is charged with felonious assault, failure to comply, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $125,000. Bond for Chase Schumacher, of 3817 Waldorf Dr., who is charged with felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon, was set at $150,000.

Police allege that Mr. Schumacher went into Major Kleen Laundry, 4044 Airport Hwy., at about 5:20 p.m., with a gun tucked into his waistband. The suspect left the store and got into a blue Dodge Neon, allegedly driven by Mr. Antoine. From inside the car, numerous shots were fired at Terry Floyd, Jr., whose age was not available. He was shot at least once in his side, police said. Police said Mr. Floyd was at the laundromat washing clothing with his girlfriend.

Mr. Antoine allegedly took police on a high-speed chase through the city, driving into oncoming traffic to avoid red lights and around other vehicles at major intersections while attempting to elude police. At one point, Mr. Schumacher got out of the vehicle and surrendered to Ottawa Hills police, according to a Toledo police incident report. Mr. Antoine kept driving on Talmadge Road, then followed by Sylvania Township police near Sylvania Avenue. The suspect was taken into custody at Harvest and Secor Road after a brief struggle with Toledo officers.

A motive for the shooting was not provided.
