Two men who were shot in apparently unrelated incidents were listed in fair condition Tuesday at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Wounded in shootings were Richard Morgan, 34, of Erie, and Sherron Clemons, 19, of Toledo.

At 11:45 p.m. Monday, Fred Mickles, 55, of Toledo was on the front porch of 2806 Chestnut St. when he was approached by three men.

One pointed a gun at him and told him to “give it up,” according to a police report.

The victim swatted away the gun. The gun fired and a round struck the door to 2806 Chestnut St.

The victim then ran across the street seeking help. Mr. Morgan, 34, after hearing shots, hid on a porch at 2813 Chestnut St. when the gunman told him to “give it up.”

Mr. Morgan told the shooter he had nothing, but the man shot at him three times, striking him twice, according to a police incident report.

The assailants fled in a small gray vehicle, police said. Further descriptions were not available.

In a separate incident, Mr. Clemons was shot in the 900 block of Norwood Avenue, near Waite Street in central Toledo at about 6:54 p.m. Monday.

Police said Mr. Clemons’ account of what happened was not consistent with witness statements, but investigators pieced together that the victim was shot by another man. Police said Mr. Clemons fired back at the assailant and a small revolver was found in a vacant lot near where Mr. Clemons was found.

Six people have been shot in the city since Saturday morning.
