Rossford is moving ahead with a plan to contract with the Wood County Sheriff’s Office for dispatch services.

City Council last week authorized the mayor and city administrator to negotiate terms and conditions. Councilman Dan Wagner, who chairs council’‍s safety committee, reported that Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn had agreed to a dedicated separate channel for the Rossford Fire Department during active runs. The cost quoted for the sheriff’s service would be $65,210.28 for the salary and benefits of an additional dispatcher, annual maintenance costs of $6,448, start-up fees of $37,730, and perhaps some costs for the transfer of phone lines.

Rossford currently contracts with Lake Township for dispatching and would have to give a six-month notice before terminating the service.
