LYONS, Ohio — Two Wauseon women were injured, one seriously, in a single-car crash that closed U.S. 20 for about an hour near this Fulton County community today, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Crystal Nofziger, 35, the driver, was taken to Toledo Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition.

Claudine Nofziger, 61, the passenger, was transported to Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon, with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. Her condition was not released.

The Nofziger car was eastbound on U.S. 20 just west of State Rt. 109 about 6:50 a.m. when for unknown reasons it drove off the north side of the road and struck a utility pole, according to the patrol. The victims were trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated.

Traffic on the road, which was closed in both directions, returned to normal about 8 a.m.

The crash, which occurred about 20 miles west of Toledo, in Chesterfield Township, remains under investigation.
