LYONS, Ohio — A single-car crash that injured two Wauseon women, one seriously, near this Fulton County community is under investigation Tuesday, authorities said.

Crystal Nofziger, 35, the driver, was taken to Promedica Toledo Hospital, where she was initially listed in serious condition, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol. A hospital spokesman said her condition was later updated to fair.

Claudine Nofziger, 61, the passenger, was transported to Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon, with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, according to the patrol’s Bowling Green post.

A hospital spokesman said she had no information about a patient by that name.

The Nofziger car was eastbound on U.S. 20 just west of State Rt. 109 about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday when it went off the north side of the road and struck a utility pole, the patrol said.

The victims had to be extricated from the wreckage.

Traffic on the road, which was closed in both directions for about an hour, returned to normal about 8 a.m.

The crash occurred about 20 miles west of Toledo, in Chesterfield Township.
