Child taken to hospital after fall at all-star game in Perrysburg

A young child who fell from the stands of Steinecker Stadium at Perrysburg Junior High School during an all-star football game Friday evening remained publicly unidentified Saturday afternoon.

The child, whose condition was not disclosed afterward, was taken by ambulance to ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital after the incident during the annual Northwest Ohio Regional All-Star Football game, featuring top area high school football players.

A Perrysburg emergency dispatcher said the incident was not considered a police matter, while the fire department issued no statement.

Perrysburg fire Chief Jeff Klein said Saturday he had no information about the incident, but hoped to on Monday.

“Certainly we want all of our facilities to be places where people can come and enjoy themselves,” said Tom Hosler, the Perrysburg schools’ superintendent. “It’s an unfortunate situation any time there’s an accident.”
