A Toledo man remained hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday after he was shot in the abdomen the night before.

Keith Phillips, Jr., 25, was in critical condition at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, a spokesman said. Mr. Phillips was in an alley behind his home in the 600 block of Platt Street in East Toledo when a man who asked to use the victim’s cell phone shot the victim in the abdomen about 11:23 p.m.

The attacker fled with the phone, according to a police incident report.

In an unrelated incident, at 10:07 p.m. Monday, Dontae Booth, whose age was not available, was shot in his left arm at City Park Avenue and Vance Street, police said.

He was taken in a private vehicle to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was treated and then released, a hospital spokesman said.

The victim told police he was walking through Savage Park when a dark-colored vehicle drove up behind him and someone fired four shots.

The victim ran and found a friend to take him to the hospital.
