Bond set at $2.75M for pair charged in death of Ypsilanti man

Bond was set at $2.75 million today for a husband and wife charged in the slaying of a Ypsilanti, Mich. man whose body still has not been found.

Desirae Strauss and Robert Strauss, both 36, of 2140 Consaul St., pleaded not guilty in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to charges of aggravated murder, murder, tampering with evidence, and grand theft of a motor vehicle stemming from the June 22 death of Brian Martin, 53.

Police allege the couple bludgeoned Mr. Martin to death inside their first-floor apartment.

Judge Gene Zmuda appointed attorneys Pete Rost to represent Mr. Strauss and Kurt Bruderly to represent Ms. Strauss. A pretrial hearing in the case was set for Aug. 25.
