Dog alerts troopers to $136,000 in heroin

8/19/2014FINDLAY — Two pounds of heroin worth more than $100,000 landed a Detroit man behind bars in Hancock County.
Ohio Highway Patrol troopers stopped Christopher Triplett, 42, on southbound I-75 early Sunday for a speeding violation. Troopers said “criminal indicators” prompted the signaling of a drug-sniffing canine from the Findlay Police Department. The dog alerted to police that there were drugs in the vehicle. The drugs, worth an estimated $136,000, were found under the air filter in the engine compartment, officials said.
Mr. Triplett was charged with possession of heroin. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.
Friday night, troopers also busted Mark Nour, 29, of North Carolina with hydroponic marijuana and hashish. Troopers stopped the vehicle in which Mr. Nour was a passenger for speeding and did a pat-down search of the occupants. The search yielded small amounts of marijuana and hashish. Troopers then searched the vehicle and found four pounds of hydroponic marijuana, worth an estimated $18,100.
Police charged Mr. Nour with possession of marijuana and possession of hashish.
