FINDLAY — An early morning fire Monday ravaged a Findlay flower shop and damaged four nearby houses.

Sink’s Flower Shop & Greenhouse, 404 2nd St. in Findlay, was destroyed in the blaze that also ruined a two-story office building behind it and damaged a greenhouse, Findlay fire Chief Thomas Lonyo said.

The fire was reported at 4:23 a.m. and is under investigation by the fire and police departments, he said.

About 25 to 30 firefighters fought the fire, which was fully involved when they arrived on scene. It took firefighters about an hour to get the blaze under control. Four nearby houses sustained damage.

No one was hurt in the fire, and a cat and rabbit inside were able to escape without injury.

Chief Lonyo said it’s too early to know the cause of the fire or the cost of the damage.

Alpine Flower Gallery in Findlay, which is also owned by Charles Clapper, will handle flower orders for Sink’s.
