Jonathan Reed’‍s alleged robbery spree in West Toledo ended with his arrest Saturday, less than 24 hours after the latest robbery at a local store.

Reed, 38, was spotted by police while he walked along Monroe Street in West Toledo. He tried to evade officers but was taken into custody, Toledo police Sgt. Roy Kennedy said.

He was to be booked into the Lucas County jail, initially on charges detailed in warrants issued after each robbery, police said.

About 9:30 p.m. Friday, a robber matching Reed’s description allegedly grabbed cash out of the register drawer at an In & Out Mart at 1619 W. Sylvania Ave. and fled.

Police said the man bought a box of candy, lunged over the counter when the drawer opened, and snatched cash. He struggled briefly with the clerk and then with a customer who tried to intervene.

The robber reportedly ran westbound with the money and was seen trying to ditch his blue shirt on Brame Place.

Police said fingerprints on the candy were identified as Reed’s.

Authorities allege Reed previously robbed Monroe Pharmacy, 4122 Monroe St.; Rite Aid, 5765 Secor Rd.; Stop & Go, 2345 W. Laskey Rd., and In & Out Mart, 2125 S. Byrne Rd. using similar methods.

Reed‘‍s address on court documents is listed as 902 W. Alexis Rd. and 3025 Glenn St.
