S. Toledo holdups occur blocks from each other

Within blocks and minutes of each other, two armed robberies were reported in South Toledo early Monday morning.

Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Western Avenue at 3:35 a.m. The victim, Humberto Torres, told police he was robbed at gunpoint by two teenage boys. The suspects pointed a gun at the victim, punched him in the head, and took his money, according to an incident report.

While police were looking for suspects, officers were flagged down by Kenneth Lesinski, who told police he was robbed at gunpoint at South Avenue and Stebbins Street at about 3:30 a.m. The suspects took the victim’s cash and cell phone, according to an incident report.

Mr. Torres described the robbers as black teenage boys, one was between 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 5 feet, 8 inches tall with short hair.

He described the second robber as being between 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 5 feet, 11 inches tall, with an afro haircut and an “athletic build.” Police ask that anyone with information call the Crime Stopper program at 419-255-1111.
