Defiance police investigate toddler drowning

DEFIANCE — Police said 2-year-old girl may have drowned Thursday at a Defiance residence.

Defiance police responded at about 6:35 p.m. to a home in the 200 block of Harding Street . When they arrived, they found the girl unresponsive in the residence.

The girl was transported to Defiance Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Defiance police declined Friday to provide additional information.

The incident remains under investigation.

It is the second child who has drown this week in northwest Ohio.

On Monday, a 2-year-old Temperance boy drowned in his grandparent’s built-in Sylvania Township pool, despite there being a fence around it, according to Sylvania Township police.
