United Auto Workers Local 12 has endorsed Oregon Mayor Mike Seferian for re-election Nov. 5.

In a statement, Local 12 President Bruce Baumhower praised Mr. Seferian’s performance in office for the past four years.

“Mike Seferian has shown during his first term in office the ability to work with unions and others to achieve positive results during tough economic times,” Mr. Baumhower said.

He credited Mr. Seferian, an independent, with working to hire former Toledo Police Chief Mike Navarre as Oregon’s police chief and Mike Beazley, former Toledo City Council clerk and Lucas County administrator, as the city administrator. “These two people have been of real benefit to the people of Oregon,” Mr. Baumhower said.

Mr. Seferian’s challenger is City Council President Tom Susor, a Democrat in the nonpartisan race, who also has collected labor endorsements.
